For those of you who have just become acquainted with these guys, let's fill in some background..... Multi-instrumentalist/Vocalist Rowena and Keyboardist Nigel are a well known musical team who, in 2006/7 found themselves looking to move into new areas. Some time previously, while part of another group, they had recorded an album at Pathfinder Productions produced by Singer/Songwriter Chris Betts. Chris was working with Bassist/Guitarist Graham J. Russell fronting various rhythm sections when the association with Nigel and Rowena was renewed. After a brief get-together all four felt confident enough in each other to jump straight in. All four members of the group are Christians and although they are not about to shove their faith down your throat, don't expect them to be shy about it! As Singer/Guitarist Chris puts it ; "We do a song called Beggarbread which sums up sharing the Gospel as far as I'm concerned. The song is about John The Baptist but it's centred around the fact that you are not talking down to anyone when you tell them about Jesus Christ - rather, it's like one beggar telling another where he can get bread! The message is that we are all sinners before a holy God. The only difference is that Christians are forgiven." Mixing their songs with the best of the rest of contemporary Christian material along with carefully selected 'classic' covers means that they are equally at home leading a congregation in worship or rocking a concert audience. Their recent schedule has included worship and outreach services, arts festivals, concerts, harvest showcase celebrations and bikers' rallies. Anyone who has heard them perform 'live' will agree that this is a band who can whisper a ballad or roar out on rock. Click on the links to discover more about the guys that make up The Connection |
